At Rehearsal # 2 the 2nd clarinet SOLO needs to be 5 times louder.

TROMBONES and LOW REEDS….be careful of your tuning and play in the KEY at rehearsal #6.

At #10…THE RUNS HAVE BEEN THINNED OUT. Please do not play unless you were at rehearsal and were one of the people appointed to play the 16th note runs.

At #13….I want to hear the clarinets during our 2pm spot check…just a small group play that chorale section on Sunday afternoon. Jenn has let the thirds know who should play.

TRIBUTE TO BERNSTEIN

Muted brass at bar 4-14…Keep it Crisp and short on those upbeat lead-ins.

Bar 46 is now a Fermata and I will cut off the bass clarinet.
The horn will re-enter ALONE on beat 1-2 of bar 47 and then the ensemble can resume on beat “3” half note entrance’s on the back half of that bar (47)

*We have romoved the dotted 1/8-sixteen ground bass line from bar 46-54

Bar 59-61 we have “re-balanced and re-scored the music” If you were not at rehearsal please do not play those four bars.

Bar 78 Be careful not to Pound the articulations…more tone and less tongue please.

NEW CHANGE….after bar 91…we will have 8 rim shots in the percussion and then all enter at 102.

At 106 remember we will slow down and LAY back a little bit.

144-162….Make sure we are not in a hurry….LUSH SOUNDS and please keep the triplets Open Ended.

Candide….just make sure we do not get too loud too soon…it is a long mountain to climb

This piece is all about layering and bring out the melody when you have it.

Clarinets must build and SUSTAIN Full volume bar 80-96. This is the ultimate clarinet moment.

Brass section “watches” at bar 101 through the end.

We are down to our final three week countdown. At this point all individual preparation of notes and rhythms must be taken care of.

1) We will sight read and play through BOTH trombone solo pieces.
2) Most of this rehearsal will focus upon the war-horses…. Mannin Veen, Greensleeves, and Bernstein.

3) If time permits we will hit Wicked, and the Waterside March.

Mannin Veen: Looking to get the transitions correct and tuning on the chorale section. Particularly focusing on the 2nd and 3rd parts.
Clarinets will also be the focus of this part of the rehearsal.

Greensleeves: We will work on the clarinet solo and soli work.
Also focus on the inner voicings especially at the end of the piece.

Bernstein: TRANSITIONS are the key as well as getting MAMBO to not slow down. Many people are mis-interpreting the 1/8 note rest. In reality it is a 16th note rest since we are in cut time.

Amazing Grace: Work on the Development Section.

Schedule is subject to change due to personnel in attendance.

Reminder we are at the middle school once again.
BUT I will be at this rehearsal, as I do not have a school function to attend.

2) Stars and Stripes needs a little bit of maintenance. BRASS please make sure the dog-fight section stays at the same tempo.
Trombone intonation on the counterline after the trio is also a place I would like to address. Piccolos, also we will tune up some of the exposures in the trio.

Jenn will be conducting this rehearsal as I will be at the NJ state concert festival. Please make sure everyone goes to the middle school this week.
