For Immediate Release: The Raritan Valley Symphonic Band will present its annual children’s concert on Sunday, February 4th at 3:00 p.m. in the Hillsborough High School auditorium. The concert will be followed by a demonstration of woodwind, brass, and percussion instruments in the auditorium lobby given by members of the band. The school is located at 466 Raider Boulevard, Hillsborough, New Jersey. Admission is free and open to the public.

The concert, for children ages two to eight, will feature “Favorites for Children, Young and Old”. The Band will play selections of Walt Disney music, such as Highlights from Beauty and the Beast and an arrangement of Disney classics including Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, Chim Chim Cher-ee, and the Mickey Mouse March. The concert will also include current children’s favorites, such as the Spongebob Squarepants (Theme Song), the Sesame Street Theme, as well as Music from the Incredibles. The concert will be approximately forty-five minutes long.

The children’s concert will be conducted by Ms. Jennifer Eidel, the assistant conductor and principal clarinetist of the RVSB. Ms. Eidel is currently a music educator in the Hillsborough school district and is also a member of the Eastern Wind Symphony. The RVSB is a 75-member adult symphonic band with its volunteer membership drawn from central New Jersey and the surrounding area. The band has a rich 23-year history and has become known for its tradition of bringing quality music to the community, frequently featuring some of New Jersey’s most talented soloists, and providing free and accessible music education outreach to the community.

The concert is made possible, in part, by funds from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a partner agency of the National Endowment for the Arts and administered by the Somerset County Cultural & Heritage Commission through the State/County Partnership Local Arts Program. The Band is sponsored by the Jointure for Community Adult Education and by contributions from local businesses, corporations, foundations and private citizens.
